Trains have been suspended in El Salvador recently. The only exception is a 7-km segment from San Salvador to Soyapango, which is serviced by a commuter train for the duration of works on a road bridge.
The picture shows a passenger train at Terminal Oriente in San Salvador before departure. Cars are very simple and indestructible - for example, there is no glass in windows and passengers sit on wooden benches.
More information is available on a page dedicated to railroads of Central America.
